Description: Antique Vtg Horse Sleigh Bells Black Leather Strap 25 Brass BellsStrap is 98" long end to end and is 2.25" at its widest point. The largest bell measures 2" across. The strap and bells are stunning! The strap is thick & heavy duty. The workmanship is outstanding. Each bell is numbered (based on its size) and they go from small to large as they reach the center of the strap. The sound they make is delightful. Look unused (possibly just displayed). I did not find any markings, but they very well could be Amish made (when compared to known Amish made sleigh bells/straps). Sleigh bells were used as charms back in the day. They were said to ward off evil spirits, bring good luck & ward off diseases and illness. They were also a great way to show off your wealth and status. They were often used during the winter months (when pulling a sleigh) or in parades.
