Description: Antique Hand Made Ecru Lace Dress SHAWL, Shoulder Scarf w/Lappets & Dangles Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE LAPPET LACE DRESS SHAWL Striking and lovely antique hand made lace dress shawl with lappet drapes measuring about 13" across the neck back, 30" at the widest point, 20" long from neck back to bottom back edge; and each lappet is about 16" in length. Made of a variety of beautiful lacework, tatting and similar handwork, each lappet has seven solid crochet covered dangles. This belonged to my Great-Great-Grandmother - she wore it to church over a gown with the lappets dangling over her shoulders. Condition is good with toning to the textile and several faint areas of discoloration as shown - I don't see any holes, but there is one tiny separation on the second to last photo as shown - an easy fix - I may have missed something since the pattern is so filled with designs. Think this is just a lovely piece - so indicative of the era - a lovely old piece of lacework - wonderful addition to any home, collection or display!
