Description: Here is an antique tiny ebony brooch. It is a figa pendant hanging from a bar. The pin has the old C clasp, measures just under 1" and the fist measures 15/16". Judging from the size I am guessing it was made to hide in the clothing,. The Figa has many meanings in different cultures. The most common symbolism is a protection against the evil eye. It is represented with a closed fist and the thumb between index finger and heart finger. Judging from the bar pin and C clasp this pin is quite old. It is an estate find, so little is known about it.. Some cultures call it "the hand of protection". I am uncertain if the gold colored metal is gold, I have no way to test it. I can only say it is not magnetic.
