Description: Antique General Electric model AOU/AF2 16" oscillating desk fan for parts or restoration. Fan motor works and spins blade pretty smoothly; however, it may not be reaching full RPMs. The speed selector switch may need some attention because I didn't notice any difference in speeds when switched thru the choices. 'On/Off' does work. Also, I could not get fan to oscillate. The oscillating mechanism appears to be intact. Gearbox is missing screws for lid. The box was filled with old, gummy grease. I cleaned some of it out and added a bit of fresh grease, but that didn't help. Motor shaft turns smoothly. Cosmetically, unit shows considerable wear but is probably a good candidate for restoration. Blade cage is in good shape as is solid brass blade. Base may be missing some screws and felt bottom is in poor condition. Bottom pan and base have some rust. Bakelite switch tip is snapped off. Unit likely needs re-wired. The original cloth-jacketed fan wiring looks ok, but power cord is bad. The power cord insulation is dried out and crumbling. It was safe enough for testing purposes, but power cord needs to be replaced before fan can be operated safely. Fan weighs approx 18lbs overall and stands approx 20". Blade measures 16" in dia and cage is approx 17" in dia. Unit is guaranteed to arrive in described condition, but is sold As/Is-For Parts or Restoration.
