It is like the gold standard of restorations"******* THE BEST OF AMERICAN FOLK ART The checkerboard strip inlays which border the table I installed, the original inlays were in the same location but in very poor condition being worn away & missing CIRCA 1825-1840 The inlaid heart, diamond, spade & club are fantastic looking!! I added some custom touches...the legs were reinforced with hardwood dowels from 2 sides...you can see the dowel with walnut wedge in the middle, the wedge provides incredible strength to the dowel/legs and also looks fantastic, it is a favorite technique of mine! I showcased the gorgeous wood grain & character with many, many coats of hand rubbed & polished varnish imparting incredible beauty. The finish is also highly water resistant The finish is silky smooth & feels great when you rub your hands over it! Of course this walnut which was harvested when 300 years old has lots of character such as knots, nicks, dings, pinholes that adds great character to the table An American historic treasure, a very rare piece indeed!!
