Description: FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE....! Found in an estate liquidation on the island of Madeira in Portugal, that of a retired antiques dealer. Antique hand painted French Toleware tray. The tray is marked on the reverse, "Made In France". The illustration in the center is marked, "Chateau Feugerais, Orne". Research revealed that this Chateau, located in Orne, is actually now spelled a bit different, "Chateau De Feugerets". (Assuming it is the same Chateau). The tray measures 14 1/4 inches round and is in heavily worn condition with surface pitting causing some losses. The paint is stable with no dents or bends. The center illustration is very faded, however, traces of the chateau image is still visible. I have inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size. PLEASE NOTE. THE PAINTED SURFACE IS DARKENED, WORN AND SOMEWHAT PITTED. MUCH OBLIGED
