Description: Antique French Knives, Ebony Handles, Sterling Silver, Flowers, Gaston Bardiès, 12 pcs These twelve very stylish antique French knives have ebony handles, sterling silver blades and silver collars and caps designed in a beautiful pattern of flowers and acanthus leaves. The blades bear the French “Minerve Premier Titre” hallmark, indicating the highest quality of French sterling silver (950/1000), used in Paris since 1838. The Minerve Premier Titre is the guarantee that the sterling is at least 95% silver. They also bear the maker’s mark of Gaston Bardiès, master silversmith in Paris, located in the rue des Fontaines between 1897 and 1914. The mark consists of the letters “G” and “B” surrounding the image of an heraldic lily. These knives are in very good condition with the exception of a few tiny dents on the blades and a few slight cracks on the upper part of some of the handles, not affecting their stability. Please refer to the detailed photos on this page. This very elegant set of knives will be an authentic French addition to your table setting or your collection.
