Description: Stunning French Grand Tour blue opaline glass scent bottle with gilt metal overlay and figural hand painted scenes of Paris Exceptional very high quality glass scent bottle, produced in the Napoleonic III Era (1816-1867), most probably around 1840-1860 Absolutely magnificent turquoise blue color of the glass, almost glows when lit Four beautiful miniature rosettes with implemented topographical scenes of Parisian monuments: Place de la Concorde, la Madeleine, Le Pantheon, L'Assemblee Generale and on top Cathedrale Notre Dame de Paris ( I am guessing, because of the breakage of the cover glass is difficult to see) Gilt metal fittings and sits in a gilt metal ( bronze?) holder with ball shaped feet with scrolls around, everything is intact Very good antique condition, misses interior glass stopper, breakage of the exterior glass on the stopper, bit of humidity went on the paper, used to make the miniature paintings, but we can most certainly forgive those little details, when we know that we hold a piece of history in our hands Height 13 cm Dim. base 6 cm / 6 cm
