Description: Antique Large and Ornate French Late 19th or Early 20th Century Quarter Repeater Grand Sonnerie Oval Carriage Clock with Alarm and Balance Lever Escapement Movement, in Mostly Working Condition (some alarm issues, otherwise everything else works) Great clock - quite large for a carriage clock, ornate, with quarter repeating grand sonnerie complication. The clock is fully functional, except for its alarm. EBay allows only one video uploaded, so I concatenated two videos of different types of the clock's striking - grand sonnerie quarters strike at 6:45 in passing and grand sonnerie on demand. Nice hand painted porcelain dials, but with repairs to the alarm dial and a hairline on the maine one. Case has some minor tarnish, quite clean for a clock of this age. Movement is nice and clean. Escapement is original. French quarter repeaters are highly collectible, especially so for an oval clock with such a beautiful filigree dial. Clock has a level on its bottom that selects strike in passing between Grand Sonnerie, Petit Sonnerie and Silence. Alarm has an issue with it, it winds, triggers and rings, but it is missing the ratchet that ensures that it does not move when the hands move. Small issue, but not a trivial fix. Still a great clock, though. I will include a key.
