Description: This listing is for an Antique French Figural Mantle Clock Marked Medaille D’Argens Vincenti 1855 READ. The ONLY thing that I believe stops this clock from working is the lack of the suspension spring & pendulum. If that relatively easy repair were done, this clock would likely be mechanically excellent and fully working. I have gently bobbled it back and forth, and it ticks. Case appears to be alabaster or marble and gilt or gold painted spelter. The figural french design is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of styles of decor. The case is signed “CAMUS” on the back. The movement is marked “Medaille D’Argens (silver metal) as well as an obscured “Vincente” or something like it. Also clearly marked 1855 in this hallmark. It makes this an excellent piece for your collection, one your friends definitely wont have! It is an excellent piece for collectors, gifting, display / decor, gifting, and more! It is in good mechanical condition visually, with no obvious damage or missing pieces. The case has had some minor damage, typical of its age. A finger on the figure is missing, as is his sword. A rear foot of the base has been scrunched a little, likely repairable, and there are signs of other vintage repair. I am unsure if it is gilt in gold leaf / ormolu or painted. I have seen them both ways. I have not disassembled the clockwork at all. Rear plate of case is missing, some mould marks / paint or gilding loss present. See photos. Comes visually inspected, not currently running but likely to do so with minor repair. Untested for these reasons. This clock comes from a massive estate collection, and was extremely well cared for in a temperature controlled room.
