Description: Antique Footed Mayonnaise Bowl & Ladle Hand painted Calla lily floral design (Nippon) This mayonnaise bowl and ladle set is in the rare hand-painted calla lily pattern. The pieces have warmth to them with a cool sophisticated simple hand-painted design. Each piece is marked “Nippon,” which indicates it was made in Japan and imported between 1891 and 1921. The Calla Lilly was a poplar Art Nouveau motif in this production period. The bowl is footed, it sits on three ball-like legs. This gem is lovely, no chips cracks or crazing. The pieces imperfections are from being fired during production. The only detracting mark is on the handle of the scoop, (please review the provided images). There is wear to the paint due to age, specifically to the gold gilding. The bowl measures approximately 4.5” diameters by 2” tall, the scoop is 5” long from handle to scoop, and the scoop is 2” in diameter.
