Description: Antique engraving from a distressed 1784 edition of Thornton's New & Complete History & Survey of London & Westminster, &c. titled "The Burning of St. John's Monastry near Smithfield, by Wat Tyler's Mob" and "Blood & his Accomplices making their Escape after Stealing the Crown from the Tower of London". Published by Alex. Hogg at the Kings Arms No. 16 Paternoster Row. London, June 26 1784. Lodge sculp. Engraving shows some minor tatter at the lower margin as well some toning from age or other very marginal tatter. Leaf is still sturdy for its age and not brittle but the almost 240 year old paper is fairly thin. Engraving measures approximately 15 1/4 x 10 inches.
