Description: Antique Dutch Silver Tobacco/Cigar Box-Netherlands-152g DIMENSIONS: 5 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 1 1/4".Total weight: 152 grams. DESCRIPTION: Antique tobacco box. Hinged box with hand-engraved decoration on lid including scenes of a house and boats. .833 silver. Hand crafted. Hallmarked as pictured. Maker's mark and purity mark interior bottom, maker's mark interior lid, Minerva duty mark exterior lid. I do not detect a date stamp. The maker's marks are illegible. 19th century I believe (these marks were in use 1814-1953). Netherlands. CONDITION: It appears there was originally a bar of some type built into the lid to secure cigars which is absent. Scattered use-related wear including dents, dings, scratches and rubs. Consult photos. Otherwise generally good condition with no other damage or significant wear. No splits, cracks, holes, breaks. The hinge is functional with no issues. Some typical scattered age-related oxidation.
