Description: Bell was manufactured by Sargent, design known as Ekado-Early edition from Series with patenet date of July 4, 1876 This is a very popular and highly sought after design in antique door hardware pieces. Bell works as it should, ringing loud when engaged. . Other pieces are needed to operate bell on a door, this early version had a pull chain that extended outside the door, pull chain is not included. Bell measures 4 7/8" in diameter at base, three screw hole are hidden by bell housing, and the bell cover is 4 13/16" in diameter. Decorative cover is made of brass or bronze-non-magnetic. Base and guts of bell are made of cast iron. Bell is in nice condition with no major damage or issues. The inside looks clean and works as it should. No cracks in cast iron.
