Antique curtain madder brown French drape faded floral cotton 1800s vintage

Description: Welcome to The Textile Trunk! ~ Please follow us on Instagram @textiletrunk ~*~ This is a BEAUTIFUL antique French curtain dating to approximately 1830-1850; the roller and hand block printed floral design with picotage is just incredible! This lightweight cotton curtain print has a lovely soft pale gray ground and the print is in wonderful madder brown tones of faded dark chocolate, soft beige and hints of dark eggplant with a touch of dark chocolate... just amazing! This wonderful curtain would have once hung as a bedcurtain; it's not backed, but still has a strip of linen tape along the gathered top. It would be lovely for hanging as is or would be wonderful for deconstructing and making into a set of curtains, a shower curtain, a tablecloth, or used for decorative pillows or lampshades... so many wonderful purposes for such lovely fabric! MEASUREMENTS: This wonderful piece measures approximately 26 inches across the gathered top, 62 inches across the bottom and 83 inches long CONDITION: I have left this textile is in as found, unwashed condition for collectors, but it can be hand washed and hung to dry! This curtain was made from three separate panels of this fabric, so there is a seam running the length down the center and one a few inches in from one side. The gathered top has some tiny holes and little rust marks from the iron nails that were used to hang it in the past (I love that hint of it's history!). The sides are unhemmed/raw, as is the bottom, which is cut a bit unevenly. Overall, it's in wonderful condition! There is a tiny hole near one corner, but generally it's in amazing condition for it's age! inv #: FF 4111/1/21
