Description: 1877 hand colored print, removed from a period American sporting publication of 1853 Epsom Derby winner West Australian (later recognized as the first English Triple Crown winner). Measures 11 1/4 x 8 3/4 inches tipped onto a 12 1/8 x 9 5/8 inch paper backing sheet. The reverse has parts of articles on horseracing, three-mile walk race and results of several base ball games. Print came with a number of horse racing items that belonged to Walter S. Vosburgh, an original member of The Jockey Club, turf historian (author of American Racing, 1866-1921 etc.), official handicapper for various racing associations, including New York racetracks from 1894-1934 and for whom the Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park is named. Thank you.
