Antique Chinese Mud Man Figurine Two Wisemen Sitting and Sharing Tea 1890-1919

This statue appears to be from some time before 1919:"The certain age of an antique mud man can be verified by observing the mark incised on the bottom of the figure. As all imports into the US had to have the point of origin plainly stamped within view, the pottery stamps can actually date the piece. 1890-1919 'China', 1920-1944 'made in China' or 'made in Hong Kong' and occasionally 'made in China', stamped in red ink during the late 1940's." ~from mudmantoo.tripod.com It is believed that the molds were destroyed during WW2. Figures made before the war had originality both in the expression on the faces and the individuality of the figures. Here are two wise old men sharing tea. They are in remarkably good shape, however one teacup is long gone, and the tip of the other man's slipper is chipped. I think the man with dark brown hair has a tiny chip at the end of his pigtail. See photos for details. The photos are part of the listing. Interesting to note that the teapot, their ears and eyes all have tiny holes pressed into the clay. Teapot, thumbs, ears, noses, and top-nots are all in unchipped condition. Remarkable for being about 105 years old. Colors are bright. Faces are animated and charming.
