Description: Antique Chinese Liao Dynasty (916-1215 A.D.) Glazed Porcelain Sancai Dish Plate The dish is molded in the center with a single chrysanthemum, surrounded by peony blossoms picked out in amber glaze and leaves in green glaze against an off-white background. The colors are still very strong and vibrant. And unlike most specimens, this one is completely 100% glazed on the bottom. Originally acquired by a San Francisco Asian art collector in the early 1990's from Butterfield and Butterfield Auctioneers (prior to getting acquired by Bonhams). This piece is in excellent condition (with the exception of a tiny chip on the rim (see photos). The last example found of a similar dish to this sold at auction with Christies in 2007 for $8250, including buyer's premium (65% over the high pre-auction estimate).
