Description: Offered here for your consideration is a rare, early 19th century English hard-paste porcelain mother pug dog and puppy figurine. These early English figurines are all modeled after the Meissen factory's first Pug model by J. Kaendler (in an attempt to reproduce his fashionable style that had taken Europe by storm in the late 18th and early 19th century). The Victoria and Albert Museum holds two similar figures identified as Chamberlain Worcester and dated as early 19th century. Each varies slightly in size and pose. We also attribute this model to the Chamberlain Worcester factory and date this particular model to the early part of the 19th century. It is in overall good, as-pictured used estate condition with fine and light scratches and wear to the painted decoration here and there, some fine and tight crazing here and there, and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
