Description: This cast iron Horsehead is solid and weighs 10.5 lbs. See associated picture on scale. It measures 8.5 inches tall not including nails. It is 7.125 inches wide nose to mane. I pried this off of a rotten wooden post at a estate sale with the owners permission in North Tonawanda NY. There are still quite a few original hitching posts in the general area. It may be older than 1900 as it was moved from another home in the area that I was told had been built during the Civil War. It has some black paint and surface rust. The ring is solid and 4.5 inch in diameter, slightly oblong. I was always going to install it at my home but fear it would be "taken" I am not sure if the part with the nails is original or added somehow. In any case I am leaving them intact for you to decide. If you want more pictures just let me know of exactly what and I will take them. Thanks for visiting my shop and please see my other unique items.
