Description: Gorgeous antique institutional-quality pressed glass sugar server. Maker unknown, but I believe the glass to be Hazel Atlas, unmarked except for the embossed numeral "4" at the base of one of the panels. I was able to locate two others, circa 1917, with identical glass but totally different caps; one was Hazel Atlas, the other was Spengler Loomis Spenlo. This one seems to have no cap design comparables, and is really quite an ingenious and sanitary contraption. Cap's hole features a flattened, angled surface on one side that allows the sugar to flow smoothly downward into the spoon or beverage container. Very tidy! Providing a self-sealing closure to the opening is a little screw-on button atop a threaded triangular toggle. The whole cap disassembles into three easy pieces for cleaning. Cap is also unmarked. Excellent condition for a piece of antique utilitarian glass. Some minimal chipping around rim and thread flanges. Age-appropriate wear to base. Cap appears to be nickel plate over brass, some wear to nickel plate on toggle button. Overall, a very clean, ruggedly handsome, and serviceable piece. Stands 6 5/8" tall and measures 3 1/2" in diameter at base. Please see photos and use the magnifier for greatest clarity, ask questions anytime, and don't be afraid to shoot us an offer!
