Description: A fine French Crystal Regulator with open escapement with 2 jeweled pallets and fine porcelain dial made by Samuel Marti of France for the Shreve Crump and Low co of Boston circa 1890s that has been fully and properly restored inside and out and is in great working order and in very good overall condition and keeps good time. The original S Marti fine French movement signed S Marti Medalle de Bronze has been completely disassembled, all parts cleaned ultrasonically and by hand, the fine French pivots were polished with great care and all of the wheels were checked for trueness and the pallet jewels properly checked. The mainsprings that power the clock were removed from their barrels and properly cleaned and greased and the time side mainspring was replaced with a brand new spring that was precision matched from the supplier. All repairs to the strike train were performed and the clock reassembled, adjusted and properly oiled before reassembly. the clock has kept very good time and strikes precisely as it should. The glass and brass case has been cleaned and polished and the thick beveled glass has no chips or cracks and presents beautifully. The porcelain Dial is in very good overall condition and has a few hairline cracks as pictured near the 12 o'clock position and presents well and are hardly noticeable when the door is closed. The front and back doors open and close as they should The added print on the dial is faded but reads "Shreve Crump and Low" the fine Boston retailer for whom the clock was made for and originally sold by. The clock chimes softly and pleasantly once on the half hour and the correct number of chimes on the hour.
