Description: This is a rare original circa 1906 two-sided insert or flyer for the Mittineague Paper Mill in West Springfield, MA. 8" x 11 3/4". This piece is promoting "Two New Colors in the Famous Rhododendron Deckle Edge Covers, Sepia & Chocolate in Antique & Telanian Finishes." The Telanian finish was "something entirely new for a cover stock." On the reverse side there is information on the Strathmore Parchment and Rhododendron Cover lines. The Strathmore brand name began to appear on fine art papers in 1899. The Strathmore brand quickly became known as one of the highest quality art papers used by many leading artists around the world. It looks like this piece was printed on their Strathmore Parchment high-quality paper. In 1911, Mittineague Paper Mill and Woronoco Paper Company were combined and the Strathmore Paper Company was formed. This will be shipped in an envelope between cardboard stiffeners.
