Description: Antique Blue Enamel Filigree Butterfly 800 Silver Pin Brooch Unique Art Nouveau Style This brooch is Art Nouveau period, early 1900's, tube hinge functions smoothly and has a C clasp. It measures 1.5" x 3/4" Cannetille filigree is a jewelry technique that became popular in the 1800's. The delicate filigree twisting of gold or silver threads was said to resemble bursting fireworks. This particular brooch was crafted in gilt, but in 125 years the gold wash has mostly been worn away on the front. Marked 800, this unusually shaped butterfly is most likely French. The condition is good for its age. One dot of blue enamel is missing, the pin back is bent, it's a little worse for wear but a treasure, for sure. Three dimensional construction, the pin is .5" deep. The wings are layered, the body and antenna make for a cute little bug. Please see all photos as they are an integral part of the description. $8.00 shipping within the US, no international shipping.
