Description: Vintage antique old childs size painted Paris Toy Manufacturing Company Pine Sleigh or bob sled that dates to the 1920's to 1930's ~ perfect for porch decorations! Or pull your toddler around for a ride through the snow! Its seat slides inside the box compartment so two small children can fit in the box. The handle pivots back and forth for turning. It slides nicely through the snow and on ground. The construction is fabulous~!....Pine wood with steel iron framed runners, steel iron straps, handle and joinery braces. At the end of the handle is an iron rectangle handle for pulling. Sturdy with original old green paint over pine; great condition, some rustic primitive age signs to wood but no rot whatsoever. One peg that box rests next to needs to be replaced, very simple to do! Photo's don't do it justice! Paris Toy Mfg Co out of South Paris, Maine made sleds and sleighs as well as other toys from the late 19th into the 20th century. These are highly collectible, the early pieces going up into the many thousands of dollars at auction. This is very reminiscent of those -- I had a Paris Toy Mfg Co child's wheelbarrow once with the very same iron and wood construction, wood pieces with iron fittings like a kit. Though I don't find a stamped number on this piece, but I could have missed it or it may have been a paper label, this sleigh has all the hallmarks of being made by the same company.Sleigh approximately 42" long x 14" wide with seat box measuring about 34" long x 12.5" wide. In 3 pieces, the brace runner frame, the box, and the seat. It will ship in two boxes and is quite heavy for its size. It would make a spectacular unique porch decoration for holidays or for garden flowers year 'round~would be adorable mounded with metal buckets or terra cotta pots full of flowers~! Straight out of a country magazine!
