Description: Austrian Bohemia 9 1/2 Inch DINNER PLATES, SET of 2 ~ in BEAUTIFUL CONDITION! Believed to be VERY RARE and UNUSED! These are believed to have been made between 1882 and 1918 in the city of Kloesterle, which was part of Bohemia (part of Czechoslovakia at one time). The plates measure about 9 1/2 inches across. They are in BEAUTIFUL vintage condition and feel to me like fine porcelain or bone china, and they appear to be UNUSED. There are no utensil marks, no chips, and no cracks. I have taken several photos of each plate (plate #1 in photos #1 - 10, and plate #2 in photos #11 - 15), and would be happy to provide additional photos and/or answer any questions upon request. The color is white, and there are beautiful floral decals on both the lid and the bowl. The flowers in the decals appear to be pink roses, a yellow rose, and smaller lavender flowers. I found 2 incised backstamps on one plate, but did not see any on the other plate. See photos #8 and 9. The backstamp in photo #8 appears to be the digits 743 or 748, and the one in photo #9 appears to be 3 symbols -- the first has a sort of "fire" shape, the second one has a squarish shape, and the third one looks something like a guitar standing in profile. I have a covered casserole and an oval platter with this same floral design for sale in separate listings, and I believe they are from the same set and therefore, the backstamps on the other items would probably apply equally to these plates. The backstamps on the OTHER items include:a mark printed in green that says "VIENNA AUSTRIA" (shown in photo #16; note that this green backstamp is NOT from these plates). pairs of numbers incised into the porcelain, and I believe they are "48 06". more pairs incised into the porcelain, and these appear to be "TK", "48", and maybe "11" or a single "H". a single character incised into the porcelain, possibly crossed swords, a stylized cross, or a 4-leaf clover. According to a source I consulted, the backstamps listed above indicate that the marked items would have been imported into the United States by one of the following companies: Peter H. Leonard (operating from 1882 until 1898)Bawo & Dotter (operating from 1898 until 1899)Leonard, Blakeman & Henderson (operating from 1899 until 1899)Blakeman & Henderson (operating from 1900 until 1908)Anna Leonard (operating from 1908 until 1913)Charles L. Dwenger (operating from 1913 until 1915)Paul A. Straub & Co. a.k.a. 'PASCO' (operating from 1915 until 1918).I am happy to combine shipping with any of my other listings. I am a dish collector, so your item will be CAREFULLY packed for shipping. These have been in my family for decades, and come to you from a smoke-free home. Ask any questions before buying, as there are no returns.
