Description: Antique American Pewter Plate, 8" Dia., Blakeslee Barns, Philadelphia, PA., c. 1812 - 1817. This pewter plate is a fine example with a single reeded rim, deep bowl and a nicely turned body. There are two impressed marks on the underside. One is the smaller impressed eagle and stars mark with the initials, "B.B." at the bottom. The second is a straight line mark with the name, "B. BARNS," above "PHILAD." This is mark #15, by Blakeslee Barns who worked out of Philadelphia, PA., from 1812-1817. This mark on a 8 inch plate was listed in "Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, where it was valued at $35 back in 1957. This is a wonderful example of early American pewter plate by one of it's finer makers, offered with no reserve and a Buy It Now. DIMENSIONS: The pewter plate is 11/16" H. x 7 7/8" Dia..
