Antique 19thC Choisy le Roi Porcelain Scenic Dish Plate Porzellan Platte French

Description: For sale is a really pretty (to use the words of my youngest kid) oval platter made by Choisy le Roi - Hautin & Boulanger in France in the second half of the 19th century . It is made of a majolica / faience / ironstone type material and has an oval shape to it with an amazing cloisonne look Japanese style decoration to it. There is a bent tree over some water on which two cranes or storks are standing, two ducks are flying through the opening with two smaller birds sitting in its branches. Next to it is a prunus blossom type tree with two birds in it and two more birds are flying above them. The decoration is amazing but a bit hard to show as all the pieces are painstakingly decorated with gilding over the polychrome decorations. All hand painted! My youngest unpacked it when it had arrived here and shouted: "dad this one is really pretty!" :) She does not often say that. The dish is in great condition with a couple of regilded spots along the edge of the rim. It displays perfectly! The plate is 0.75 inches tall, 13.75 inches wide 7.875 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the impressed H.B Choisy mark as well as a number 5 as shown. A really stunning and unusual piece!
