Description: Gorgeous, Rookwood Decorated Art Pottery Low Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this circa 1922 artist decorated Rookwood pottery low bowl or deep plate. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This matte glazed piece has a mottled background which is blue near the edges and rose pink at the center. There is a circle of beautiful flowers. This piece stands approximately 1 5/8 inches tall, with a maximum diameter of about 12 3/4 inches. Unpacked, this heavy piece weighs 4 pounds 7.6 ounces. It would be an uncommon addition to a collection of American art pottery. Identification Beneath, this piece has the Rookwood logo with a mark of "XXII," denoting a date of 1922. Artist's initials "LNL" indicate that it was decorated by Elizabeth "Lizzie" Neave Lincoln. The shape number is 2572 C. Condition This piece displays well overall, but it is not in perfect condition. To the edge, there is a damage area where there is a missing chip, with associated fractures where the clay has not chipped off (please see Photo 7). The length of this damaged area is approximately 2 7/8 inches, and it is about 1/2 inch wide. Otherwise, there is very light wear. Variations in glazing are as made. There is a small, glazed-over indent to the foot, as made. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying. Terms of Sale 1.
