Description: Antique 1922 Georges Rouault "Miserere" Original Wood Cut Framed Art31.25x25"24X18" Art Georges Rouault (1871 - 1958) Rouault used black outline to reinforce his use of color. This may stem from his teenage years when he was an apprentice to a stain glass maker. Rouault's subject matter dealt with the despair of the downtrodden to which he himself felt a connection to as an artist. He was not closely associated with Fauvism though he did exhibit with artists of that movement. He was born on May 27, 1871 in Paris. His father worked in a piano factory as a cabinet-maker. His grandfather was an art lover and hoped Rouault would become a painter. He attended evening classes at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs, and studied painting at the Louvre. He entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts under Elie Delaunay. He was a pupil of Gustave Moreau. great used condition see back for artist info SEE PICTURES FOR MORE DETAILS RETURNS ARE ACCEPTEDbuyer pays return shipping THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATIONPLEASE SEE PICTURES AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION SHIPPING QUOTE IS TO LOWER 48 STATES ONLY (excluding HI, AL & PR)international shipping is provided thru ebay's global shipping
