Description: Antique child's book - 'The Speaking Picture Book'. Children stories within, and then an arrow points to the string you pull that produces an animal noise. -Cock (Chicken), Donkey, Lamb, Birds, Cow, Cuckoo, Goat, and 'Papa & Mamma'. The sounds are, as expected, rather simple .. the chicken sounds like a high-pitched 'eep'... The donkey is a high-then-medium tone, ostensibly mimicking a 'hee-haw'. The cow is a low-pitched low (or, moo). The two birds make gentle whistle/tweet sounds... The Goat sound is rather mechanical... I'm not sure if it's working as intended or not. The 'Papa & Mamma' cords -- you pull one string, and they both pull at the same time (this is likely intended -- the story suggests they "both [utter] at once" -- but the sound is just a high-pitched squeak.. I'm not sure what it's supposed to represent. Some cosmetic wear is present throughout, which you can see in the photos. Measures 12 5/8" x 9.5" x 2.25".
