Description: Up for sale is this lovely original antique hand colored ornithology print, "Fulvous or Cliff Swallow, Burrowing Owl." The print was engraved by Alexander Lawson from a drawing done by Titian Ramsay Peale. It is a fairly large size with the paper measuring approximately 16 7/8 inches by 13 5/8 inches. The piece dates to sometime between 1825-1833. It is from Bonaparte's, "American Ornithology, or, The natural history of birds inhabiting the United States, not given by Wilson: with figures drawn, engraved, and coloured, from nature." The engraving is overall in very good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. Please look at the photos to further note the condition.
