Description: Offering an antique tea cup and saucer from the United Kingdom, manufactured by John Ridgway circa 1800-1840. This teacup and saucer features a deep cobalt blue patterned with gold gilt leaves. The old mark on the bottom is partially faded so I don't know the pattern number. The teacup measures about 4" in diameter and the saucer about 6". A feature of these antique sets is that the saucer is deeper than usual, performing as a shallow bowl for spilled tea. No chips or cracks. The porcelain does have random age pitting and light discoloration on the base. The gold is a bit worn overall but still very present. These 200 year old porcelains were made in coal fired kilns whose uneven heat could produce firing specks at times. FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING!
