Description: Interesting antique Tinsmith made tin & wire hearth chestnut roaster in all original patina & condition. This is a rather unusual hearth tool. The chestnut roaster is made of wire with tin banding. The wire sphere is hinged and can easily be opened. There are small feet on both sides of the wire spheres so it rests evenly. There are also two metal handles. it is quite sturdy and function properly. The diameter of the chestnut roaster is about 8" excluding the handles. As with most antique tinware, expect to see some evidence of slight rust. This is a very interesting early piece of American tinware.
