Description: Get an ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING while it’s still available! I’m a DAILY painter...and my work hangs in the new University Medical Center in New Orleans as well as Nest NOLA on Magazine Street! If you are very attracted to this piece, it’s always a good idea to buy! WHY COLLECT ART? The purchase of original art from an unheralded artist is a very smart investment! You obtain art at an unbelievable price compared to prices a gallery commands. Think about collector Gertrude Stein. She bought many artworks by Picasso and Matisse, when both were not yet famous and when their art was not expensive. Keep in mind that the value of art is never fixed, but will only increase within time. Thanks for shopping art by Kristi Jones! EBAY STORE: See all my other paintings and prints in my Ebay store! About the artist: Kristi Jones was named after Howard Chandler Christy, who was a 20th century illustrator and distant relative. Kristi is also the 5th cousin to Clyde Dixon Connell, one of Louisiana's most famous female artists. Kristi developed an innate artistic ability from being raised by artistic parents, both of whom obtained art degrees. Her family home had an art studio, and her father, a wildlife artist, has placed (numerous times) in the top tenth percentile in state and federal duck stamp art contests. Her mother sold artwork at a local gallery. Kristi was President of the Art Club her Senior year of High School. She later studied art at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts (NOAFA), and is also self-taught. She also created mosaics and sold her tropical jewelry designs at the Red River Revel and other festivals for several years. Recently, she has turned to painting, and has sold work both locally and nationally. She has exhibited in shows and galleries in northwest Caddo Parish, including Centenary College's Meadows Museum of Art and Centenary's Magale Library, Smith Mason Legacies Gallery, and Artspace in downtown Shreveport. In December 2011, Kristi was awarded a visual arts grant from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), and became a Juried Roster Artist in 2012. In 2015, she was commissioned to create 29 paintings for the new University Medical Center of New Orleans. Most of her work depicts the flavors, architecture, landscapes, and culture of Louisiana and the South. Her signature pieces are impressionist cotton bolls and fields.
