Description: Ancient Seal with Two-Horned Bull and Inscription / Indus Valley C. 2000 BC Very Rare Indus valley steatite seal circa 2000 BC Item: Stamp-seal with glyph Content: It consisted of the motif of a majestic zebu bull which had wide curving horns. Possibly, the zebu bull symbolized the leader of the herd who protects them or it stands for a sacrificial animal Dimensions: 31 x 35 mm Date: circa 2000 BC Period/culture: Indus Civilization Origin: Mehrgarh, Balochistan, Pakistan Script: Harappa Script, the script has not yet been deciphered Material: Steatite Technique: carved Condition: authentic no restoration. Nice patina of old age. Design: Handmade. The seals would have been made on a clay tag or pottery and used by merchants to authenticate, or identify, a package. On the back is a projection, probably to hold while pressing the seal into other materials such as clay. The projections also have a hole for thread, presumably so the seal can be worn or carried as a necklace. Please let me know if you have any questions Normal 0 19 false false false LT X-NONE X-NONE
