Description: Polychrome decorated pottery plate decorated with a large profile head of a god or dignitary. Wearing a feathered headdress, large ear spool with a lower floral dangler, possibly wearing a face covering and outer solid band border. Repaired from three large original pieces with break lines left visible, with a set of native repair drill holes, a v-shape chip on the rim, a small rim flake and a few tiny losses along the break lines. Totally original painted decoration, with no repainting. A boldly decorated, beautiful example. Masterpiece of Pre-Columbian Art. Size: 13-1/4”D. Period: Ca. 500 - 800 A.D.
