Description: China (per expert) - This jar may date to the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 - 220 AD). It's approximately 4.5" tall and 7" across. The pot appears in excellent condition with an ash glaze about the shoulder and four intact lugs. A consulted expert believes its Chinese. For us, however, we note that the piece resembles works made by members of the Champa culture from Vietnam, a seafaring people. Note that Khu Lien, founder of the Champa kingdom rebelled against the rule of the Eastern Han dynasty between 137 and 192 AD. Determining which culture is responsible for this piece may not be possible, but that does nothing to detract from it's inherent appeal and historical value. Please note that we do not import or export ancient cultural items. Any items we bring to the market are purchased domestically in the United States.
