At the age of 10, he began painting in a "wholly adult style," recognized by the artworld as sensational. The author Arnold Zweig, having noticed his talent, interviewed Amos at length for a British newspaper. Superlatives such as "the Mozart-like, wonder-child-of-painting" and "young genius" were used repeatedly to describe the then 13 year-old Yaskil. Amos Yaskil is an autodidact. The development of his paintings and prints, and his activities in other artistic creations correspond to the different phases of his life. In his art he combines the impressions of the landscapes in which he lives with the influence of the French Impressionists and of the German "Brucke" artists. For the last 32 years he has lived near the Sea of Galilee. The world of Amos Yaskil is one where permanent Spring holds sway in a breathtaking experience of color. The rich color, brilliant sunlight, and natural beauty of the region are clearly evident in his work and enables the world to share in that beauty. Yaskil exhibits regularly in Israel, Europe, South America, the Far East and the United States.
