Description: ON SALE: Set of 30 American Encaustic Tiling Co. ("AETCO") approx. 6" x 6" mottled field tiles. These are a little over 1/2” thick. Appear to be hand cut, no two are exactly alike in size, glaze...extremely cool. These were carefully salvaged by somebody in New Jersey. These date from the late 1920's - very early 1930's. Most have AETCO's classic marks on back, although they are pretty faint or partial stamps. No issues with condition, maybe a couple small edge chips but nothing detracting or severe. Some still have mortar on back. These were made in various color combinations. These are now $375 for set of 30. This is an extremely good price for these, especially when you take into consideration what people are charging and getting per piece for 60’s to 90’s discontinued Dal Tile and American Olean tile. These are very rare tiles and not something that shows up in any type of quantity very often, salvaging tiles from this era without breaking them is not easy. AETCO ceased operations in 1932-1933, with these old marks that would be the latest they would have been made. Enough for a kitchen or bathroom backsplash, combine them with old 20's - 30's Batchelder, CalArt, Malibu, etc. tiles for a unique fireplace or other installation.
