Description: AMERICAN SKENE FOUNDRY 1 POUNDER CANNONBALL, SCHOONER LIBERTY, LAKE CHAMPLAIN N.Y,1775/77 This very rare* Philip Skene Foundry 1 pounder cannon ball was cast at the Philip Skene Foundry at Skenesborough, New York for General Benedict Arnold's Fleet in 1775. It is one of several cannon balls from the American schooner Liberty on Lake Champlain, New York & dates to 1775/1777. It is about 1 15/16" diameter, is in unfired, very good condition & has light pits.& a dark brown patina. . It was from the (private) Ticonderoga Museum in Ticonderoga, New York where it was on display for many years.. It was bought in 1934 by the famous New York collector James Dunn who added it to his large collection of New York artifacts. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
