Description: Ambrotype 16th-Plate, 1-5/8" x 1-3/8". Glare in photos from cellphone camera. Cover glass needs cleaning. ---There is a crystallized-looking leaf pattern on the glass underside, that part that's inside the package. It's below his chin and in the upper left-hand corner. As the ambrotype is encased in original seals, this must be a phenomenon going on with the air and chemicals used in making ambrotypes that are enclosed within the seals. Just think of that, this ambrotype has approximately 160-year-old air trapped inside! (pictures taken with different light sources to highlight the leaf crystals.) ---Nice-looking man with solemn eyes, beard, tinted cheeks.
