Description: Ambrotype 6th-Plate, 3-1/4" x 2-3/4". Glare in photos is from my cellphone camera. ---Very dirty glass, could use a good, careful cleaning of the cover glass. The back of the ambrotype is a shiny metal piece. I have not taken this apart to take photos of the individual pieces, but shiny metal backings like this have a dark underside which then highlights and makes the ambrotype visible. ---Cutest little boy, pink-tinted lips and cheeks, looks like he's about to cry. Hair swept up on top in a little curl roll. ---Very detailed mat and preserver. For Collectors of 'Hidden Mother' Photographs: Little boy is standing on a chair, his mother holding his hand. It's hard to tell, but it looks like he's holding her fingers. I have not taken this apart, so it's not known if part of mother's face is in the photo, but hidden under the mat. Mother has a long white sleeve showing underneath a shawl and the outline of her skirt.. For Collectors of Children's Clothing This Photographic Era: Horizontal striped shirt with shirt sleeves down to wrist, with a row of buttons down the front. White collar on shirt. Trousers and a short suit jacket.
