Description: Altona 1940s Collection 980-100 am/fm 'Vintage Look' Radio 1995 Vintage VTG This radio is unused. This is a nice miniature "replica" of the 1938 Emerson BA199. As with any piece of vintage electronics, they should be tested so the buyer knows what they are getting. I believe this radio was purchased and returned. I found an issue with its tuner where the radio would occasionally “cut out” while being tuned. I found the problem where one of the internal wires came loose from (or wasn’t placed in) its retaining location, and was making contact with one of the tuner's dial wheels. With that corrected, the radio is working properly. The outside box is undamaged. The inner box appeared to be carelessly “returned” where some of the folding wasn’t engaged. Some loose edges were coming off and rather curled up. To make the otherwise new radio look “new in box”, I ironed the unfolded inner box flat and used shipping tape to secure the tearing corners. That made the box stand up good and square for display. Inside the box is its documentation and the little wire that can be added to supplement the internal FM antenna. Nothing missing. The radio is nice. It truly was never used. Please see photos. No chips. No Cracks. It’s clean and glossy. Radiomuseum.org says this series of novelty radios were made in 1995. Performance is like new. It’s sensitive. I was able to easily zoom straight to the local weak stations in my area I use to confirm a radio is working correctly. I tested both AM and FM. I usually service all the vintage radios I sell on eBay. Since I needed to open the radio, I did my usual cleaning of the volume control and band switch. I checked the current draw. The radio is working perfect. It sure looks good! Clean inside and out. Mint. It would make for an excellent addition for a collector. I ship USPS Flat Rate. It’s fast.
