Description: Altama Then and Now is a 20 page booklet about the Altama Plantation history from 1763-1986. Altama Plantation is located in Brunswick, Georgia. Originally known as Hopeton Plantation it has been owned by John Couper and James Hamilton who were plantation owners on neighboring St. Simons Island. James Hamilton Couper, John Coupers son, managed Hopeton for 40 years and became one of the most successful planters in the United States. He built a house he called Altama to which he retired. Altama has then been sold to various others throughout the years. The booklet is in very good condition
