Description: ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE THREE INVESTIGATORS "THE MYSTERY OF THE SINGING SERPENT" HARDCOVER BOOK FOR SALE!! VERY RARE INDEED!! MYSTERY AND ADVENTURE SERIES!! Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Series #17. Children and teens novel featuring "Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators." Illustrated with black and white drawings by Harry Kane. Author is Mary V. Carey. and it is 152 pages. No inside book binder artwork unlike the other Alfred Hitchcock book editions as this publishing practice was discontinued later in the book series. Note: small sticker on book cover came with it - you can remove it as I will not as I feel it may damage the front cover. These books are awesome for children, teens and even adults!! They are a pleasure to read!! Full of the CLASSIC Alfred Hitchcock intrigue showcasing the "Three Investigators"! You will love these books and I bought the complete collection for myself but it had many "duplicate" books that I already own.....so, the savings and the book go to you! There is some wear and tear on the book binder but overall it is in fair to good condition. Pages are clean. Pages are still attached to the binder somewhat. No pages missing. No "scribble marks" on the pages either. These books came out in the 1960's and the 1970's and I used to see them all the time in the bookstores as a kid when Alfred Hitchcock was big back then.........I thought for sure they would bring these back as they are all expertly written and there is much artwork in the books themselves to spur the imagination of anyone young or old alike. Not bad condition overall for a 40 year plus book!! These books are getting very difficult to find nowadays even in this condition. The "new" paperback books do not look anything like the ORIGINAL HARDCOVER BOOKS and in my view lack the original charm, classic artwork and attitude of the original Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigator book series! This is one book from a large Alfred Hitchcock series and I will have more to sell. Author is Mary V. Carey who was quite known back in the 1960's as well. Again HARDCOVER book.......hard to find with the ORIGINAL CLASSIC AND RETRO ARTWORK! Very cool addition to you or your child or teenager's home book library!! I cannot stress how great these books really are as I thoroughly enjoy them and continue reading them even today. Publisher s RANDOM HOUSE.....a giant in the publishing industry! Don't buy the cheesy "paperback" books that don't hold up, always buy the HARDBACK EDITION! Please Note: This is "not" a brand new book as it is in "used condition". There is a sticker on the front cover and some wear on the front and back covers and the top and bottom of the spine with photo included. But for a 40 plus year book it is to be expected as well. I know you will enjoy the book and your purchase! Again, this is a USED BOOK that you will LOVE! Here is what the internet says about the book: The Three Investigators is an American juvenile detective book series first published as "Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators". It was created by Robert Arthur Jr., who believed using a famous person such as movie director Hitchcock would attract attention. Random House, which is owned by Bertelsmann, is the U.S. publisher and still has some of the rights to the books. Other rights are possessed by the heirs of Robert Arthur, Jr. and the German publisher Kosmos. The characters known as the "three investigators" are three boys named Jupiter Jones, Peter Crenshaw and Bob Andrews. Most mysteries were solved by Jupiter Jones, a supreme logician who implicitly used the Occam's Razor principle: that the simplest and most rational explanation should be preferred to an explanation which requires additional assumptions. The boys were able to solve their mysteries with relatively few resources: they generally had little more than a telephone, bicycles, access to a library and – with reference to the Hollywood setting of the series – a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce (which Jupiter wins the use of in the first book). The original series was published from 1964 to 1987 and comprised 43 books. Books number 1 to 9 and 11 were written by the creator, Robert Arthur, who also specified ideas for a few of the other stories. Arthur had been an editor for several book collections attributed to Alfred Hitchcock. The other authors were William Arden (Dennis Lynds), Nick West (Kin Platt), Mary Virginia Carey and Marc Brandel (born Marcus Beresford). All of the authors wrote their own introductions and epilogues, which were dictated purportedly by Hitchcock and later in the series a fictional writer, Hector Sebastian, who supposedly recorded the adventures of the Three Investigators from their words. The illustrators in the series began with Harry Kane and Ed Vebell and include Jack Hearne, Herb Mott, Stephen Marchesi, Robert Adragna and William A. ("Bill") Dodge. For the original series, the specific ages of the investigators were never revealed, but contextual information indicates that they were likely 13 or 14 years old. They were not old enough to drive a car legally, but were said to be just a few years younger than their nemesis Skinny Norris, who had a driver's license from a state where the required age for a license was younger. On one occasion it was mentioned that Pete was part of the high-school wrestling team. In the later Crimebusters series, it was stated once that the Three Investigators team was initiated when the boys were 13.
