Sidney Lewis Bernstein, Baron Bernstein (1899-1980) was a British media baron who was known as the founding chairman of the London-based Granada Group and the founder of the Manchester-based Granada Television. He, along with Hitchcock were producers of Rope which Hitchcock directed. Dall played Brandon in the film. Alfred Hitchcock was an English film director/producer, actor and author; noted for his suspense films and cameo appearances within them. Film career: 1925-76; television career 1955-61. He directed more than 50 features including: The 39 Steps (1935), Rebecca (1940), Suspicion (1941), Spellbound (1945), Notorious (1946), Rear Window (1954), Vertigo (1958), North By Northwest (1959), Psycho (1960), The Birds (1963).
