Alejandro Jodorowsky Dune Film Script Book READ

Description: PLEASE READ: Jodorowsky's self-published DUNE script, printed as a crowdfunding reward for backers of his 2018 Psychomagic documentary through Ulele. I missed the campaign and purchased from a book seller in January 2019. Laminated boards, corners slightly knocked (nearly all copies supposedly shipped this way). Pages are in great condition, read once. A couple of matters to note: there are NO illustrations in this book, and the text is not the same as the revision used for the Moebius storyboard collaboration. This book reproduces what is very close to an earlier draft offered for sale in 2015, which came with several pre-Moebius illustrations. Jodorowsky denounced the script and drawings as fake, yet it turned out the text was essentially the same as printed for his campaign. Due to how close I purchased this to the end of the campaign (I still have the receipt) I see no reason to doubt the authenticity of this copy. Jodorowsky's signature is extremely clean and has virtually no pressure point variances compared to other copies I've seen online though, and since I am not an expert I cannot verify whether the signature is handwritten or printed. I know of no copies with facsimile signatures, and the only unauthorized copies I know of reproduce the original pre-Moebius drawings. Also worth mentioning is that signature pages are often done as a stack of otherwise blank pages, to be bound in with the books later. Jodorowsky clearly inscribed most if not all copies after they were assembled. This is why there is usually ink bleed through even to the following title page. Most copies that come up for sale don't get much into the details, but there are at least two different printings of the campaign scripts. Some say "By Alejandro Jodorowsky" at bottom of the cover, while some do not. The title page may also have an all rights reserved copyright text. This copy has neither. I doubt there will ever be full details as to why the variants exist, but as far as I can tell versions both with and without copyright notices or bylines did ship out in the campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't additional copies made due to demand. I am pricing for condition and my inability to verify it is not a facsimile printed signature.
