If you are new to Aleister Crowley, he was not a kind man, but he was a genius when it came to designing this deck. He was head of the Golden Dawn, just as Rider & Waite had been. He meditated for long time in the Temple of Thoth in Egypt where he had the inspiration for this deck. Finally back in England, he connected with the fabulous artist Lady Frieda Harris, who under Crowley's meticulous direction, painstakingly added every detail that makes this deck the most accomplished in the world of Tarot. If you are new to Tarot, it is a sacred set of 78 cards taken from the pages of the mystic book, which at the time was not available to the general public, the Kabbala. The Kabbala is a book of mysticism that was carried by the Israelites out of Egypt and, which is said to be from the time of Atlantis. It contains the Tree of Life, which explains states of consciousness and creation of physicality for soul's incarnation in the physical world. This deck is absolutely the best choice for anyone who truly wants to understand consciousness and thus offer the most in-depth oracle to others. Everything in the worlds of creation are tied to the nine archetypes along with the four elements. When you understand this, you will have the basics of creation and the Tarot will come to life for you. Then with this deck you can add the stars in the universe through the understanding of astrological symbols, which these cards include.
