About the artist: Albert Williams was a British painter known for his depictions of variegated flower arrangements. He employed a unique process of painting individual fresh flowers picked from his garden, using these studies to compose more elaborate arrangements on larger canvases. Williams was notably influenced by Dutch 17th-century flower painters, such as Gerard Van Spaendonck. Born on March 20, 1922 in Sussex, England, Williams learned painting from his father and grandfather and went on to study figure and portrait painting under Louis Ginnett and at the Brighton College of Art. Over the course of his life, Williams exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolour Society, and the Royal Society of British Artists. He died in 2010 in Brighton, England.
